Ministry of Music at Second Reformed Church


Music has long been a strong component of the worshipping life of Second Reformed Church. We are brought into God's presence each week through music that inspires us to worship our God. We feel that music is a very important part of our worship time. We consider our services a blended worship style, keeping our goal intergenerational. We wish to worship together, in ways that we all can express our praise to God.

Second Reformed Church’s Music Director is Trudy Van Beekum. She is an experienced choir director, leading and directing choirs for 27 years. She has been an organist and vocalist for even longer. She also writes songs, which are occasionally used in the worship service, either by a soloist, or by one of the choirs.

We have an adult choir, which meets from September through June. Registration is now open for the fall season, and there is room in every section. We have always had a history of wonderful choirs for all ages, and continue to welcome new members who will help us to lead the congregation in praise to our Lord.

Our Sunday School children have participated a number of times in our worship service. Their enthusiasm is an inspiration to us all. We hope to hear from many of them individually throughout the year. We also extend an invitation to various other musicians to come and share their love of the Lord, through their gifts of music in our worship services.

In addition, we have a children’s choir, also under the direction of Mrs. Van Beekum, which meets at our church. This choir, ‘The Hearts of Praise’ meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, between Sept and June. There are presently 36 members, ages 4-12.

We hope you will come join us as we worship to praise our God. Our services are Sundays at 10:30 a.m. We look forward to getting to know you!
